Jennifer English realizing she's a lesbian and falling in love with one of her mocap directors (Aliona Baranova) over the course of making BG3 and seeing all the queer folks embracing Shadowheart and the impact the game had is genuinely one of the best stories in game production in a long time

The Story John Darnielle Lived to Tell
When he was a teenager, the Mountain Goats founder never expected to live to 21. He has since become one of this century’s best songwriters. The lessons of his survival, life, and work feel endless.

Read 'Matthew Flinders' Cat' at an age way too close to that of the child in it, who gets caught up in a trafficking ring. My poor fam just knew I liked big books and handed it to me at random

Much of the hand wringing, imo, is over a critic explicitly saying they are judging the moral fabric of a piece of art because of the tools used to create it and it’s making some folks feel uncomfortable and shamed. The people who feel that way should sit with that feeling.

Watching some videos on old paleoart and a familiar name showed up: John Sibbick. I didn't realise that the guy I knew best from illustrating the cover of Rogue Trader was also a massively influential artist of prehistoric animals. That is a fact that makes me smile.

all discourse aside, there is one machine with consciousness. it's printers. they are alive and conscious and they hate you and they'd take your arm clean off if you let them. never trust a printer.

the political policy cure for “male loneliness” is - more time to hang with the fellas (4 day work week) - more money to spend with the fellas (higher wages) - more things to do with the fellas (taxing the rich and building 3rd spaces)

I think the worst experiences in all of gaming are the first two hours of most AAA games. That's what the money people obsess over, making things worse and worse. They can't code, so they don't touch the codebase, but they speak English, so they fuck with the writing.
