For protein it mines co-evolution and was trained on decades of high quality data. It doesn’t do any ‘chemistry’ or ‘physics’ yet it’s remarkably good. For small molecule there just isn’t enough primary data for training. All models are terrible right now- regardless of what the big tech cos claim.
