Not one coherent argument why it's okay for anyone, but especially supposedly progressive people, to keep posting (socially!) on a platform whose very infrastructure is being used to mass humiliate and abuse women and children

Funny that this argument hasn't washed with them when children's rights groups are telling them age-gating social media access is a bad idea. But now... I've been saying from the start that age-gating is a cop out on regulating platforms properly. Feeling validated (and furious, frankly).

One thing about all of this is: if the line is not here, at the mainstream, industrial-level creation of CSAM, where is it? Musk by his own mission statement is out to smash societal norms, cut āempathyā from the West, demolish the EU⦠What is next down the tracks for him, for X, if this isnāt it?

"If it continues" implies that the current amount of CSAM is fine. That there is a tolerable amount of CSAM and we haven't yet reached the threshold of that. In trying to hedge his bets, he's basically said that a little CSAM every once in a while is fine actually. Christ almighty.

There are real people, real women, real girls whose images have been edited by grok at the request of users. This is not some fictionalised, nebulous harm. That the 'adults in the room' and 'rules-based order' governments are humming and hawwing over taking a firm line on this is extraordinary

The only logical conclusion from this now is that the Government here, and governments around Europe, are absolutely terrified of being dragged into another battle with the richest man in the world who is hellbent on their removal; or with his ally in the White House over regulation.

I understand the pressures on the BBC, but Radio 4's coverage of the Minneapolis shooting is an example of "bad balance". It's all "the Trump regime says she was a terrorist, but Democrats say it was murder". The BBC has the footage. It doesn't have to treat truth and falsehood as equally valid.

Every once in a while, a celebrity, like Chris O' Dowd or Richard Ayoade or Jimmy Carr* will inch their heads above the parapet and support Graham Linehan. Why isn't it the job of a journalist to go back to those people and ask them to comment on his supporting ICE shooting a woman in the head?

That's small potatoes in the grand scheme of things. Why are Tusla acting like they're any other employer pressing through with changes as if they aren't responsible for the lives (and deaths) of children? We cannot tolerate incompetence here.

Something I feel strongly about is that Tusla should be funded, resourced and staffed to higher standards than any other body in the State. If the Principal Care Workers want another two weeks to prepare children for changes then fucking give it to them.

The US government is now freely killing people at sea, in other lands, and on its own streets. It is difficult to see what more is needed for Congress and the Supreme Court to exercise their constitutional duty to check and balance what is now a rogue state abroad and a gangster state at home.
