Cycleway1 needs a top-to-bottom review. It could be radically improved with simple cheap measures - a couple of new filters, some upgraded crossings, some surface improvement & maintenance. This shouldn’t be so hard to get right!

Yesterday I spend an inhuman amount of time on the 205 bus mostly because drivers are allowed to park in the bus lane. Why? The biggest single thing TfL/LAs could do for bus times is London-wide removal of all parking in bus lanes.

If your child lives within a mile of their school you should have to pay a fee to pick them up in the car.

According to David Frost, a road casualty toll which involves an average of 80+ people *every single day* either dying or suffering injuries which could change their life forever is an "utter non-problem".

The casual acceptance of risk from driving cars is utterly bemusing. If this many people were being killed on trains the rail system would be shut down until the risks could be eliminated. Why is it seen as normal that so many people are killed and injured while people drive vehicles?

Empowering local government to come up with its own solutions (and raise its own funds) seems so obviously the way out of a lot of the UK’s problems. I’m struck that many civil servants I’ve spoken to have centraliser brain as much as politicians though. Transport is such a centralised bottleneck!

Regents canal this morning was unbearable. Absolutely acrid. Smoke control zones are ineffective, despite the recent law change, and the only way to fix them is to ban domestic burning of solid fuels in cities completely.

I call on my party and my government to remove themselves entirely from X and communicate with the public where they actually participate online and can be protected from such illegality.
