Deep in the Government’s new integrated transport strategy is a truth at odds with the rhetoric you hear in the media: driving a car has gotten cheaper in real terms, while public transport has gotten more expensive. The Government is also clear that this will mean more traffic and more congestion.

Absolutely delighted that Mini Switzerland has received backing from Government, less than 12 months since the project kicked off. It's now a funded project that will become the national demonstrator of Swiss-style transport integration.

Praise where it's due, my passport renewal took less than two weeks from application to receipt.

I was on Oxford Road yesterday, and did a 15-min manual count in each direction. Northbound, mostly cycleway use, 100% detected correctly (if you ignore an e-scooter). Southbound, 89.6% detected (both cycleway and carriageway). Two cyclists observed leaving the MRI site south of the counter.

What use is a 'quiet lane' if a driver can do this on one? Incidentally, this is my safest route to the rest of Stockport from Marple.

There used to be a canal in Stockport town centre, which terminated north of the Mersey. However, there is a Canal Street south of the Mersey, near Hopes Carr. Any ideas why?
