There are about 25,000 schools in England, so today's promise of 5,000 miles of new safe routes by 2035 means...do the math. Actually you don't even need to bother. That 5,000 figure and the 10,000 new crossings are just "intentions", not even actual targets in the plan.

And it's crossing nobody here actually wants, will only relieve traffic congestion for a couple of years according to their own studies/reviews. What is desperately needed is a proper public transport crossing, a train service connecting Essex and Kent, get commuters off the road.

This is brilliant! It will hopefully get a new generation used to using buses. More needs to be done though. £3 fares is still too high for many, especially if they have to change buses to complete a trip, making the cost £12 for a round trip.
