I work a middling state school that is cheap and not prestigious. Every single student does at least one semester of internship. Many engage with local orgs to do research and evaluation.

My university’s motto (which every student knows by heart) is “Not unto ourselves alone are we born,” and the majority of my students have done at least one internship at a local institution. This writer should maybe get out of her office a bit more.
