One thing I did to help me stop using ableist slurs against mental health and cognitive disabilities was to set up my autocorrect to correct them to words that are not ableist like “silly” and “ridiculous.” It’s been a huge help in dramatically reducing the amount I use them even when not typing.

Basically anytime you find yourself looking for a synonym for "stupid:" 1. You're probably about to grab an ableist slur, and 2. You should instead find a word that's more precise. Do you mean ridiculous? Shallow? Specious? Absurd? Careless? Inconsistent? Obvious? Cliched? Watered down?
