Also, if I was a rich liberal/“progressive” type who is upset about Trump, I’d be throwing as much money as I could at journalists and publications that actually cover labor in a way that matters. It’s obvious why normal people don’t like or trust the corporate media; give them something better

The AFL-CIO should start throwing some money towards labor journalism. If it was done right (i.e. with them accepting that journalists must have full editorial control over what’s published, whether or not union leaders like what they have to say) it could really have such a hugely positive impact

These meds took me from severe ME/cfs from covid to mild, giving me my life back. I do not give AF about peeps hot takes on weight, likely everything you think you know about weight loss is wrong anyway.

If these medications got cheaper, yes. A lot of people would probably take them to lose weight, many who probably really don't need to. But a lot of people who can't function because of the conditions they can resolve might be able to afford to take them, too.

Ellis sets the next hearing for 3 p.m. Nov. 13. "To make sure the order has been disseminated," Ellis says.

Ellis is done. The preliminary injunction has been entered. Ellis grants plaintiff's request to certify the lawsuit as a class action, which means it applies to more than just the named plaintiffs and includes all nonviolent protestors as well as those engaged in news gathering & religious practice

Ellis orders that agents wear "conspicuous identification" in two separate places and wear and activate body-worn cameras while engaging in enforcement actions.

Those warnings must be given "at a sound level where the targeted individuals can reasonably hear it," Ellis says

Federal agents can only use force when it is "objectively necessary to stop an immediate threat of the person causing serious bodily injury or death to another person." There must be two separate warnings given before force is used, Ellis rules.

Ellis is now reading the preliminary order, which applies only to the Northern District of Illinois.

Ellis says she will not order the plaintiffs to post a bond. Ellis anticipates the Trump administration's request to stay her injunction pending appeal. She says she will not do so.

Any impact of the preliminary injunction on immigration enforcement efforts would be "entirely collateral in nature," Ellis says.

Ellis acknowledges that she does not have the authority to dictate the operations of the federal government. "I am doing no such thing with this injunction." Ellis notes that both Border Patrol and ICE have said they have followed her temporary order all along.

Ellis says she is "ordering complete relief to the plaintiffs."

Ellis "The public ... has an interest in its citizens' bodily integrity, the right to peaceful protest, the right to assemble, the right of peaceful free exercise of religion."
