over its refusal/failure to release a study the city conducted on congestion pricing possibilities in downtown D.C. The study was finished in 2020, but has never been made public – even in response to FOIA requests.

This plan doesn't extend the expiring enhanced Marketplace credits at all & instead contributes $ to HSAs for enrollees who may not even have HSAs & can't use that $ for premiums. By appropriating cost-sharing reductions, it further lowers underlying credit amounts & raises premium costs even more.

This is actually a good example of why the customer model is wrong. I wouldn't have chosen poetry writing, but UNC made me take a class. And it absolutely made me become a much better writer, with an eye to concision and an ear now trained to the rhythm of words. I'm a better historian as a result.

amount of advertising at movie theaters has been climbing because studios take almost all the box office for new movies, and then they aren't even producing enough movies to get people into the theaters as they used to. that's one of the things conglomeration has done, also "optimization" (trash).

Everyone imitates Tolkien all the time except when it comes to the one way it would really matter: making the protagonist of your novel for children a short, fat, 50-year-old man who doesn't want to do anything.

I love how the Times keeps going back to the same callous, racist down-home folks to seek their sanction for this administration’s cruelty and incompetence. This week: what do you think of the boat strikes? I knew I’d seen this Charles Vaughters — Marine vet, college student — before.

The anti-MAHA messaging really needs to play this up. Do you realize the infant mortality rate in the US less than 100 years ago was over 60 per 1000 births and now it's down to 5.47 per 1000.

Giving parents the discretion not to vaccinate their kids is one of the strongest ways the state reinforces the parent-child relationship as one of ownership. Your parents have the ability to decide whether you will die of preventable disease, because you are their property not a person.

An irony is that a religious exemption actually is workable when it's for a very small number of students. But conservatives - who have culture war rather than sincere religious objections to vaccinations - have basically ruined it for sincere religious groups like Christian Scientists
