I’m a federal employee who was furloughed and just missed my second full paycheck. I have two young kids, so it’s tough. It’s hard but DAMN worth it. Hold the line. Capitulating now puts all that folks have sacrificed to this point in the trash bin.

African scientists unable to get visas to attend conferences, mothers struggling with childcare, class exclusion. If we turn it into a "theft" narrative it's easy to say "oh well I don't do that".

These negotiations should continue (although not during the shutdown) because the historical indirect cost structure is, in fact, that required by current law. Lots of threats and posturing, but Congress did not change the law. Do not be complacent but don't panic either.
