Ah, Paris. When we lived in England, one of my wife's friends from high school came over during the holidays, while our daughter was home, and we went to Paris for a weekend. My wife's grandmother was French, and she has family in that area. (I'll tell you about grandma at the end.)

Here's a video from my wife's family's farm. The cows are Salers cattle - primarily for beef. The farmers in the area still bell the cows once they're let out to graze in the spring, so you really want sound for this.

It's lucky that ume don't mind the snow because Kyōto has been enjoying more than a few flurries of late. Kameya Shigehisa's 'ume ichirin' (梅一輪) depicts a delicate ume blossom and vivid fruit. The sweet's name alludes to a famous haiku by Hattori Ransetsu (服部嵐雪)...

Amongst other things, this again highlights the core point about due process. It’s bad enough to be in a “show me your papers” situation, but your precious citizen/non-citizen, “legal”/“illegal” distinctions are meaningless when you can’t prove anything to authorities because they don’t give a shit.
