Londoners deserve to feel safe this festive season. That’s why Met Police patrols are being stepped up across our busiest areas. I’ve increased City Hall support for the Met Police. With officer numbers doubled in the West End, we’re already seeing a 25% drop in thefts.

At yesterday's #LondonPolicingBoard I thanked the @metpoliceuk for their commitment to keeping London safe, with support from @MOPACLdn, my @LDN_VRU, local authorities and our communities. Together, we'll continue to be tough on crime and its complex causes.

Yesterday, I went out with Sir Mark Rowley and local officers to see how they are working with businesses and communities to ensure everyone out and about is safe after dark. I remain committed to doing everything possible to ensure a safe Christmas and safe 2026 for everyone.

I want all Londoners to feel safe over the festive period, which is why there will be increased Met Police patrols in the busiest areas. Doubling the number of officers in the west end has already contributed to cutting thefts by 25%.

As London gears up for the festive season, we’re working together to ensure everyone is safe after dark. Backed with record City Hall funding, the Met are stepping up visible patrols after dark at busy Christmas hotspots to keep communities safe.

10 years on from the Paris Agreement, my message for fossil fuel companies is clear: get on board with a green future, or get left behind. London is leading the way, now we need businesses and governments around the world to step up.
