To consider what it is like to be apart from your children or they from you, and for the people in power to laugh at their pain. To finally find sleep after hours of shivering only to startle awake to a bang on a door and laughter from a guard. To know they want you to die. To give up.

I want people to know how it was for me so that they know without a shadow of a doubt what's happening now to people, ESPECIALLY CHILDREN, is DESTROYING them. I want people to think every day what they would do if THEIR children were locked in a room that was never dark, always cold, never quiet.

This was during Trump's 1st term, to me, a white Canadian with a US child. I can't imagine what's happening now to people. You need to know that these people laughed while I sobbed and told them my child was not safe with her father, begged them to at least let me take her. Laughed in my face.
