Ancient Asgard archaea had the tools to bend, fuse, and cut membranes—without coated vesicles. An insightful new review from Mukund Thattai (NCBS, Bangalore) argues early eukaryotes trafficked via tubules, not vesicles. Coated vesicles may be a later twist in membrane evolution.

For #TcellThursday I am going to repost our recent work where we use CRISPR and imaging to highlight the role of protrusions in early T cell signaling. I think Carmen’s work beautifully shows how one can extract quant info by imaging processes as they happen in cells! www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

3. But the game changes when T cells meet their targets. First contacts happen via protrusions. Within seconds, CARs cluster specifically at these sites. In here, you can see a Jurkat T cell expressing a HER2-CAR (yellow) and a membrane marker (cyan) contacting a breast cancer cell (magenta).

We all help people but when does it justify a co-authorship on a paper? It's not an easy question to answer, as it depends on career stage and funding etc. Just curious what people think as turned down a co-authorship on a significant paper that's been revised for a major Cell press journal.
