This is not a "controversy" or a "dispute" about casting. It's a racist position being echoed and amplified by other racists. Journalists need to learn to use the word "racist" much more freely; right now, too many publications treat it as unprovable unless self-reported.

This year I'm writing about the films of summer '96. I will not be revisiting the July 4th alien invasion one, but there's so much more to discuss.

The only decent Graves era Misfits song (Saturday Night) opens with the baffling lines “There’s 52 ways to murder anyone, 1 and 2 are the same, and they both work as well.” If 1 and 2 are the same then there are only 51 ways to murder anyone

I’m fucking horrified that folk 100s of years from now are going to refer to this period as the Trumpian Age or some shit and I’m gonna be lumped in with all the dumb extremist dicks. Solidarity with dead people from the 19th century who thought empire was for arseholes and now get called Victorians

(Taps mic) My major objection to spoiler culture as it stands is that it is the studio and the filmmaker pitting themselves against the viewer (if they don’t guess, we win) when movies are more fun when it’s the viewers and the filmmakers pitted against the studio (let’s sneak THIS past the censor)

There are no legitimate reasons to own Meta's pervert glasses; there is no way to use them in a way that is compliant with the general public's right to privacy. They are wearable surveillance tech and need to be banned outright.

It occurs to me that dismissing all masculine-coded movies (or however you want to describe the Mann and Scorsese canon) is similar to saying "I don't like chick flicks": perfectly reasonable as a matter of taste, not very useful as criticism or interesting to discuss for more than 2 seconds.

I haven’t read this, but I propose a ban on the tripartite climax headline where the last piece of the tricolon undercuts the seriousness of the first two with tweeness. Not an actual ban, but a stylistic one where you know it’s cringe and use it at yr own peril
