I was thinking about this as well. I have not shot anyone and I have had way more dangerous encounters with drivers who had intent to harm me and I'm just a civilian. A trained officer should be able to handle said situation much better.

Made a new poster of Robert Johnson with a bunch of period correct details. I looked at the original Vocalion record sleeves/disc labels to pull decorative framing elements. The font (redrawn) is from the 30's. The clothes, guitar and portrait are all based on 30's photos. Star marks his birthplace.

always advised ppl to not look at (A)rtsta(I)on too much when looking for inspiration, looking at other mediums and other perspectives historic or cultural or individual origin will produce better designs. Anyway what do I know

The act of gathering reference is such a deeper thing than just a fucking collage. It's research, learning, assessing and building on your knowledge base. Even google image search is dog shit for this, crack a fucking book. Learning names, history, influences.

I think the fundamental gap here is that non-creative people think that creative people make things for the end product, when in fact it’s the act of creation and not the end point that makes it worthwhile.

I was about to say this was how Cannon Films used to work (they’d make 20 $1 million films a year and the one film that made $20 million would fund the next year’s crop of films), but then I realized that’s just how ALL movies used to work, before every movie became a quarter-billion-dollar gamble.

It's lost on the current bunch of money folks that this is basically the history of Hollywood movies as a cultural and business phenomenon -- understanding that you HAVE to take risks, but if you just manage that risk you can cultivate a lasting, broad-based audience and STILL have huge wins.
