American studios had sent teams overseas regularly prior to WWI but had been sticking close to Hollywood postwar, with notable exceptions. BEN-HUR (1925) was shot on location in Italy. Mussolini was delighted, assuming that Francis X. Bushman's Roman Messala was the hero

Someone knocked over my Rosa Gallery watercolors, so I am reswatching to get them back in order. It’s a Ukrainian brand and crazy cheap for the quality, $2-3 full pans. It does have trouble with gradients (as you can see) but great for loose, expressive or more opaque work

It's going to be really interesting to see how the new Avengers movie does at the box office because I think it's a do or die for the MCU (and certainly significant for superhero movies generally) It's already interesting to see how the more fanatic fans have shifted online tactics.

There is a thrill in this. There guys are PUSHING SO HARD. They’re relentlessly doing interviews, writing articles and pushing propaganda. They’re used to everyone buying their bullshit!! But this time everyone’s like “nah”. It must feel inexplicable for them and that is so satisfying.
