I can't believe I missed so much schadenfreud with Scott Adams. I remember the horse paste but didn't know he begged Trump for help let alone his conversion to Christianity a week ago the moment he realized he was screwed.

A few months ago, ICE hired me I didn't sign and submit any paperwork. I almost certainly failed the drug test. I'm real outspoken about my opposition to the Trump administration, and I am extremely googlable And yet, there it was, in plain English. "Welcome to ICE!" My latest for Slate

One of the reply guys who got banned for block evading is on Mastodon no longer butting into people with their zionist liberalism but still under the impression that it's the fault of jerks that brigaded them, not their own actions and I think that says a lot about people and this system

Harmeet Dhillon flies a little under the radar compared to someone like Stephen Miller, but she's just as bad. Her proudest accomplishment in 2020 was to make sure more Californians died of COVID by fighting reasonable public health restrictions. And she was quite gleeful about it. Evil person.

🧵A political/media guide to the "truth" about net-zero 1) Add up costs to install & run a net-zero energy system 2) Pretend fossil-fuelled alternatives wld be free 3) Do say "eco zealots are bankrupting us" 4) Don't say "free cars if we scrap net-zero" cos it sounds ridiculous 5) That's it! 1/10

But petrol cars do cost money – and there's been massive cost inflation for gas turbines NESO looked at the cost of "carrying on with fossil fuels" too, in a scenario called "Falling Behind" – and it was only £0.36tn cheaper in cash terms than “Holistic Transition” 7/10

the most oversimplified schoolyard-psychology version of this is: Republicans are bullies; Democrats beat them when they run someone who fights back; Democrats lose when they run someone whose instinct is to tell the teacher the bully is breaking the rules.

I think this whole conversation about how democrats NEED to temper their message to win voters is farcical. Obama promised to close Guantanamo. Campaign all you want about shutting down ICE. Go nuts with it, wish in that one hand. And then we’ll all find out what you do with the other.

I just think it's supremely naive to think moderate and conservative Dems would earnestly view the "training" rhetoric as an on ramp to more progressive policies. It's already an off ramp to earnestly critiquing the existence of the agency altogether

The whole point of “cops need more training” policies is not to actually address the issues of police abuse and brutality, but to give politicians an out for giving cops more funding to go after which part of society they despise the most.

I keep seeing people asking why the police aren't arresting ICE or protecting people from ICE and I desperately need you to understand that the police aren't protecting you from ICE because protecting YOU is not and never has been their function and that's why we need to defund them.
