As always, please stay vigilant: ICE has been increasingly escalatory especially with driving observers with liberal use of pepper spray, intimidation, and threats. Please patrol with a buddy, and if agents approach you do not engage, keep your doors locked and windows up. 2/2

From a local Uptown/Whittier signal group: Mid-Morning Update: It's been a very busy morning, there has been nonstop activity on Lake St between Grand Ave and Bloomington Ave. If you can go out and patrol, even just a walk around the block, we could cover a significant amount of ground!! 1/2

Sorry, but triumphant claims about autonomous vehicle safety are wildly exaggerated. It's an open question whether today’s self-driving cars are any safer than those driven by humans. And if reducing crashes is the goal, that isn’t even the right question. My deep dive, in Bloomberg 🧵

Evie is great! I use it as a backup to my backup, so I’m not a heavy user. But when it’s come in clutch it has come in CLUTCH. If you haven’t tried it, give it a shot! The commitment over decades of this local non profit to HourCar and now the Evie flavor of car sharing is admirable.

Pretty icy out today, especially on sidewalks and bike paths. Studs, good boots, and taking it slow help a lot. Stay upright out there.

Fine, maybe suburban members of the Met Council don't need to ride transit all the time - but can't they just try it out? 8/17 never rode, 2 others rode only once - and only 2 are regular riders. How can they possibly lead a system they know so little about?

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.
