Tom's 2025 Taxes Round Up
Last year I wrote a big piece about property taxes and how theyโre calculated and how they interact and compare with things like income tax, property values, my personal budget, and the city budget. A...

Is there a way to silence "name changes" getting listed in chats in Signal? Asking for reasons that will be obvious to some.

Not me. If you want to be the best, you gotta beat the best. Harper has three years before she's competing in the big leagues, and she best believe Lisa isn't going anywhere.

Went to PILLLAR last night for a beer and they had a cool emo show going and there were a lot of young folks there, and they were all pilling their coats on a table in the back like we would do on a bed at house parties. It was really cool to see how that space had grown and I'm glad it's in NE.

Came up with a good bit about how Metro Transit should post as though Skip Traffic is a malevolent presence and enemy of Metro Transit. "Skip has been banned off for smoking on the LRT." "All of our operators pass mandatory drug tests. That's why you'll never see Skip behind the wheel again."

Still extremely funny that the University of Minnesota has buildings called both Anderson and Andersen and they were nordicpilled enough to think that people should intuitively understand the difference.

Anyone have experience/thoughts on the Duluth Trading jackets? Thinking about one to replace my busted-ass Carhartt jacket. Open to recommendations. I'm not really a layering for warmth guy. More of a ๐one๐big๐coat guy.

Discourse is bringing up a good question: what do you think your posting HAS tangibly affected? For me I count the following wins: - Stump Party - partially responsible for increase in the "Come to X if you want an asskicking" format - free trip to Winnipeg - pronouncing this website as "bloosky"

Twitter sucks but I shan't get caught up in concerns over user count, or Bluesky this versus Twitter that... I don't care where my posts go, I just need to post them for some reason. If they found my skeleton on an island they'd see a sheet of bark (?) with "dick stuck in frond" scrawled on it

"No one should ever be fired under socialism" is the offspring of the anti-work childishness that scoffs at the idea that production and labor are real challenges for humanity that we have to solve, and not just chores being handed down by our capitalist parents. Grow up.

Not sure if I'm just lazy swine, but even with the E line opening, the 17 only running every 30 minutes after 9:00am and 6:30pm is kinda a deal breaker for feeling like transit is a good option to commute to campus.
