Just before the Twin Cities Pride Parade on Sunday, a small group of city council members and community leaders gathered at Minneapolis City Hall as Mayor Jacob Frey signed the ordinances to repeal the adult bathhouse ban.

From George Floyd, to Amir Locke, to Melissa Hortman, to Annunciation, to Reneé Good & Alex Pretti, we have been through so much trauma as a city since 2020. Each of us have had our own individual experiences, but we have experienced this trauma collectively as a community.

Today at our Public Health Safety & Equity committee at 1:30 PM we have a public hearing on our bathhouse regulations ordinance. These ordinance changes are technical amendments that will end legalized homophobia that was codified when the ban was passed into law.

What a great night for the 98th annual Northeast parade!! It was so great celebrating on Central Ave with our community.

Observing ICE activity is not a crime. This is another attempt from Trump’s authoritarian regime to try and suppress free speech and dissent. But we will never stop exercising our constitutional right to legally observe the federal government’s illegal activities.

Today marks the 1 year anniversary of a highly militarized ICE raid at Lake and Bloomington, one of the first highly publicized ones in Minneapolis after the start of Trump’s 2nd term. The Trump administration claimed that the raid was not immigration related.

It was a massive error in judgment for Mayor Frey to nominate Chief O’Hara while there were active investigations into very serious accusations that had been rumored for months. This is what happens when you prioritize optics and political expediency over governance and accountability.

Like many others, I ran for City Council because the City of Minneapolis & Derek Chauvin murdered George Floyd. I will never forget the sadness and the outrage I felt when I saw the video Darnella Frazier bravely recorded, revealing the truth—that this was a public lynching, not a medical incident.

At the Northeast Middle School career fair this morning talking about what it’s like being an elected official and working for the City of Minneapolis!

Tomorrow Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, RFK Jr., Dr. Oz and other federal government officials are coming to Minnesota to supposedly announce a “major law enforcement action involving fraud”. We aren’t sure what this means but want to make our community is aware of this so you can prepare.

This is a much needed step. Accountability has to be central to recovery from Operation Metro Surge. Every single person in the chain of command—from the agents who shot and murdered Minneapolis residents, to the President—need to be prosecuted, and then we need to abolish DHS.

My Ward 1 office is tabling today at the Ecuadorian Consulate resource fair. It feels good to be back here meeting constituents and connecting them to city resources. ICE tried to illegally enter the consulate back in January but were barred from entering by the brave staff who work here.

Bauhaus means a lot to our community. It’s where I had my election night party when I first won in 2021, and where I kicked off both of my re-election campaigns. They’ve always been willing to host community events and support important causes even when they might’ve been struggling themselves.

There’s been a notable increase in ICE activity the last few weeks. Today there were confirmed ICE vehicles in Columbia Heights that had been seen at the exact same spot a week earlier. There were also confirmed ICE vehicles in Marcy Holmes on Monday.
