The president's creepy obsession with me is deeply unhealthy. Trump falls back on the same tired bigotry to distract from his obvious failures. His recycled xenophobia won’t intimidate me or silence my fight for the people of Minnesota’s 5th District.

Here is what Trump and his enablers fail to understand: Immigrants love this country deeply. We love democracy. We cherish the rule of law, the promise of due process and the idea that our diversity is a strength, not a threat. My op-ed:

It is disgusting that Trump’s hateful words of calling Somali Americans “garbage” have continued to go unchecked by members of the Republican Party. These are US citizens he is denigrating. We have a duty as Americans to call out his hateful rhetoric.
