I came here after living in Los Angeles for 15 years, where I heard all the rhetoric that’s ever been invented around this issue. We voted to raise taxes on ourselves like 4 different times to raise money to help, but that money was often wasted by policymakers who didn’t get it. Chavez gets it. ❤️

You don’t get to say ‘ICE Out’ during the height of the occupation by the federal government and then support policy that hands ICE more people to deport. Pick one.

I find this bit very concerning: “If you don’t accept those services, you can’t continue to hurt our neighborhoods and make our streets less safe,” Frey said. People refuse services for a myriad of reasons, many of them very good. Demonizing refusal is such a clear sign of nothing good.

Just before the Twin Cities Pride Parade on Sunday, a small group of city council members and community leaders gathered at Minneapolis City Hall as Mayor Jacob Frey signed the ordinances to repeal the adult bathhouse ban.

Minneapolis City Council Member Aisha Chughtai announced Monday she is taking a leave of absence immediately to focus on her mental health.

If you're able to drive around for a bit today, grab a bunch of cold water bottles (or even better, frozen!) and hand them out to people signing at traffic lights. People can use it frozen next to their body as a personal AC and then drink it when it thaws!
