While I am fired up, hopeful, and not at all discouraged - this has been arguably the worst week (at least since January) for trans folks, in the worst year for anti-trans policies, in a global retreat on our rights and care. We are going to need everyone we can get in this work and supporting us.

Henry Cuellar, Don Davis, and Vicente Gonzalez joined Republicans in voting to criminalize trans health care. The bill passed only 216 to 214. 4 Republicans voted no. If they did too, it would have failed. clerk.house.gov/evs/2025/rol...

Had a friend over this week & sent them home with a freezer full of food so they can think less about one of many things on their plate. Also been reading aloud to @phoenix-rights.bsky.social & have swiftly almost finished "Babel" by RF Kuang + our cats have been enjoying a new cat tree & couch!

Can we stop anti-trans bills in the Senate? Absolutely. We stopped a sports ban, we stripped bad provisions out of the OBBB and a number of other bills. There's no reason we can't stop these care bans too. But we will need to call, and engage and make sure folks know this is a priority. Forward.

Anyway, the Rise & Remember plan - which wouldn't require city funding - is just an all around better plan and has the blessing of George Floyd's family. The city needs to get it's act together and move forward w what is IMO the only truly viable proposal.

Never underestimate how much fight I have in me

The federal government is voting today to criminalize my healthcare, while my city is under siege by federal agents abducting my neighbors off the street. I am filled with so much deep and burning rage at the injustices, and existential, overwhelming fear for my loved ones.

I promise you, it will be okay. We've got us. We can do this. Get in the good work of making change.

ICE out in S Mpls again today. No reported detentions so far from these. We're seeing various cars, illegal license plate covers. Noticing they're not staying in one place very long (<10min) & scatter at whistles/honking. Seems like response test + avoidant of our known ability to mobilize.

Honestly, what we're learning in RR groups is a tendency toward groups becoming too big & insecure to be truly effective. Best to connect by talking to your immediate neighbors & neighbors on surrounding blocks & organize hyper-locally. DO NOT DO THIS ON FB/IG etc Use Signal. Convert people.

The separation ordinances & consent decrees that may exist only help put more technicalities/delays on the line (which is important). They won't interfere on federal operations. They probably have loopholes around being able to collaborate even if there's XYZ in place. It IS that deep. Deeper.

They do not have to do a lot of the things people swear are precisely what they're there for. They will always protect property over people—& no, it doesn't extend neatly if the people's property is involved. They are a State (as in the abstract, not 1 of the 50) apparatus. Stop clinging to them.

We have got to collectively help people understand that of course the local* cops are acting as an arm of the machine. That is their purpose. People need to grow their minds & grieve what they've been conditioned to believe about cops being there to help/serve/protect. (*wherever you are)

I went to a seminar about tear gas. It started as a "terror weapon" for clearing trenches in WW1. Britain didn't want to stop manufacturing it, so they marketed it as a riot control weapon thereafter. The UK remains the world's #1 supplier. It's *really* dangerous if you are pregnant or have asthma.

Reminder of all the side effects of tear gas & it's just being deployed in residential neighborhoods for a gaggle or three of people who don't want their neighbors kidnapped.
