It was a massive error in judgment for Mayor Frey to nominate Chief O’Hara while there were active investigations into very serious accusations that had been rumored for months. This is what happens when you prioritize optics and political expediency over governance and accountability.

Any short term job created by the building of a data center will result in thousands more lost in the long run by the advancement of AI and automation. It’s very short-sighted to think that the expansion of data centers and unregulated AI helps workers as their jobs & environment will be destroyed.

With permission from one of my habeas clients, I can share that the Bloomington Police Department is proactively cooperating with ICE to detain our neighbors. This is a screenshot of official ICE records which show that a BPD officer reached out to ICE to drop a dime on someone in local custody.

This is a much needed step. Accountability has to be central to recovery from Operation Metro Surge. Every single person in the chain of command—from the agents who shot and murdered Minneapolis residents, to the President—need to be prosecuted, and then we need to abolish DHS.

My Ward 1 office is tabling today at the Ecuadorian Consulate resource fair. It feels good to be back here meeting constituents and connecting them to city resources. ICE tried to illegally enter the consulate back in January but were barred from entering by the brave staff who work here.

People on the ground everyday are saying that just in these first 13 days of May there’s been more ICE activity than there was all of April. We don’t know what this means exactly, but this is why we need to make sure we’re still connected to our neighborhood networks and looking out for each other.

There’s been a notable increase in ICE activity the last few weeks. Today there were confirmed ICE vehicles in Columbia Heights that had been seen at the exact same spot a week earlier. There were also confirmed ICE vehicles in Marcy Holmes on Monday.

Never give even an inch of ground to those trying to chip away at people’s humanity because none of us are expendable. Trans people have always existed & always will. It doesn’t matter how our fascist government tries to classify it, we’ll always stand with our Trans neighbors. They can’t break us.

11 City Council members sent a letter to the Charter Commission ahead of their meeting where they will consider moving forward with significant changes to the appointment process for city department heads. We can’t support taking away council approval & public input in the appointment process.
