So many people seem to be misunderstanding how human beings vote. We’re not automatons. We’re motivated by emotion, connection, and our own goals. Assuming everyone will line up behind you because you think you have some perfect analysis is never going to be a realistic outcome.

The people in my real life, not online, who ranked all three, are all moms and dads of young kids who are working and living in Minneapolis because they actually enjoy being here. They’re normies taking kids to soccer practice and horrified by the cops over the years and ICE being here.

When my family bought our @bunchbike.com this spring we were already using bikes (or walking) for the majority of our trips. But the hauling capacity of this bike has helped us bike for even more trips that would have previously been made with our car (like moving this shelf). 🚲 ❤️

Yesterday I picked up a cargo bike from @thecargobikeshop.bsky.social. On the ride home I came across another parent on a cargo bike (a cool Madsen!). We did the “hello fellow cargo bike person” smile while stopped at a light, then rode the rest of the way back to Mpls together chatting. 🚲 ❤️

This is really important. The main thing that makes it hard to achieve integrated nature and green in cities isn’t density of buildings or density of people — it's density of cars. And the more well-designed and integrated density of people & buildings you achieve, the fewer cars you need or want.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

My house is affected by the water main cleaning, which @minneapolismn.gov Public Works has brilliantly let go through the first freeze. Myself and all my neighbors temporary water lines, hoses outside, are frozen, so we have no water access. They are replacing them today only to freeze again.

This I such a small issue, but at the same time if city staff are straight up lying about this - what else can we not trust them on? Is there a staff direction to not enforce these issues? That it’s a pattern might mean it’s a broader, and purposeful policy choice.

If we want to reach our Vision Zero and mode shift goals we need to have a traffic control dept that actually… does their jobs. I’ve experienced this same issue with many reports I’ve made. We need to do better @minneapolismn.gov .

Waiting for the D line, my 4yr old tells a stranger at the bus stop all about his cousin's bday party, which we're headed to. 3 hrs later, we get on the bus home and sit next to that same person! He asked my son about the party and how it went. It was a wonderful, spontaneous moment of community.
