At risk of flogging a dead horse: this whole letter is a reminder that the creative process is an end in and of itself, and vital to self-actualisation. You can’t experience BECOMING, as he puts it, by outsourcing it to ChatGPT.

tbh I think nostalgia is at a point where "lost adventures" from the Cold War period would do "boffo box office numbers" No one wants to watch a spy thriller set today; the world is too depressing (and yes, I'm saying that as someone who came up under the constant threat of nuclear annihilation)

This isn't remotely hard. Either lean into the fan theory that "James Bond" is a cover that gets passed from agent to agent, or just start setting these back in the 1960s when a character like Bond made a little more sense. There. Mail me my check.

As we learn more and more about the costs associated with GenAI, I continue to wonder how institutions and their leadership decide that yes, incorporating anything OpenAI produces into the lives of educators and students is worth the harms.

Senate Dems were perfectly willing to ask us to sacrifice. But one weekend of work and flight delays were simply too much for them to bear. The whole "fight" was just a little pageant to get them through the election.

Hi, I'm on SNAP. Stop speaking for me. The Dems made my life measurably worse by caving, and nade other lives even worse than mine. More people will die because they caved.

"Per compliance policy, certain AI-generated fields cannot be updated by clinical staff" is a managerial decision that will lead to prolonged suffering and preventable death. Having to escalate these fuck-ups to be reviewed by higher levels within the bureaucracy is a waste of time and resources.

To be a U.S. Senator is to be an institutionalist. Even Bernie Sanders cares more about his role and friendships in the senate than he does about his ideological project. If ideology came first he would lead the charge on ousting Schumer. But that’s his friend.

Analysis | Yes, Democrats won last Tuesday's elections by double digits. However, they did not win them by triple digits. The time had come to cave to Trump.

The thing about Mamdani is that he’s a talented politician but not otherworldly or one in a billion, he’s just a competent guy with popular ideas who ran against an entitled piece of shit and to me it’s a lot more optimistic to imagine 1000 campaigns like his than to view him as a unique phenomenon

I've noticed the opposing team's fans only cheer when the opponents score on us. To win those fans over, I recommend we score on ourselves repeatedly; that will surely make them so happy they'll start supporting us. And I'm sure all our fans will keep cheering for us—who else is there to cheer for?

NEW from me: CO2 emissions in China have now been flat or falling for 18 months, the first time that energy demand growth at or above historical averages doesn't drive emissions up, thanks to the clean energy boom. 🧵👇

Going to repeat this every time I see the GOP "plan": I have kidney failure. I require dialysis to live. Three times a week every single week. It costs $1000 per treatment. So either they need to give me a MINIMUM of $156,000 a year...or I'm going to die.

Casual reminder that the myth of “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps” is a cruel hoax designed to convince poor people from all walks of life that the injustices they face are a result of their own actions, rather than an oppressive system rigged against them.

The money spent trying to quash Mamdani & prop up Cuomo could have fed millions of hungry Americans It could have provided healthcare. It could have provided social supports Instead the billionaire elite spent it trying to defeat a politician who knew what the people wanted And it cost them.
