Restoring watershed forests upstream of major cities delivers clean water, flood control, and climate resilience, at 10–50x the economic return of the restoration cost. Nature is the most valuable (and cost effective) infrastructure we have.

One of our pawpaw trees bloomed for the first time this spring! They aren't self-fertile so probably won't get fruit from it, but hopefully the other one will bloom too next year. I would love to get a pawpaw harvest! 🌱

The Iran War has cost roughly $29 billion according to the Pentagon. The state agency I work for has had budget cuts of roughly $34.4 million over the last 2 years. Dozens of staff laid off and cuts to services and programs. Those cuts are only roughly 0.1% of the cost of the Iran War...

Good first step. Then add rank choice voting so the winner always gets over 50% of the vote and third parties would have a chance. And remove private (from the candidate) money and large donations in elections. Switch to only basic small donations matched by public funds. And no PACs.

Be great to have solar panels over canals, over large parking lots, and on top of large box stores and warehouses. And then provide incentives for more on residential houses and plug in solar for apartments. So much potential if we focused on it.

It’s just more evidence of the Republicans’ illegal takeover of our democracy. It’s too late in Virginia for voters to directly make decisions about district lines, but not too late for Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, and Louisiana to change lines by partisan fiat?
