In Absolum, there is no jump cancel. No matter how many times you mash, you cannot cancel an attack into a jump, even moves that launch. See me mashing X? Even the B button dash, you can cancel attacks into it, but you can't jump after dashing. But did you know? You can manually run? For free?

Okay, so like, as someone who has played Capcom's Dungeons and Dragons beat em ups, Dragon's Crown, Fight n Rage, Double Dragon Gaiden, and Streets of Rage 4 including the Mr. X DLC, Absolum isn't as groundbreaking and revolutionary as many people talked it up to be, but it's every bit as stellar.

That one bit is also my favorite piece of trivia knowledge about RCRU and every time I think about it I just smile. RCRU when it boots loads the ENTIRE game into memory and is loading assets and the game states directly from RAM, which made it entirely loading free even before standardized SSDs.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa this has me feeling a type of way because I proposed a similar system for River City Ransom Underground, but with how the engine was built and how much the game was keeping track of at one time (the entire game simultaneously) a really robust juggle limit system wasn't feasible.

Holy hell, that's awesome. I doubt this game had a crazy budget, so you're talking like $30 mil in sales -30% platform fee take home $21 mil give or take they can probably roll that into their next game no problem. Hope it continues to sell well, it's been a great time so far.

I am so for real when I say unique wakeup timings should come back. You should not be able to safejump the entire roster with the same timing and autopilot your offense, and this adds yet another vector of balancing to make characters stronger/weaker in meaningful ways without touching tools.
