Laziness doesn't exist

Many, many people will nod along somberly to this skeet and then wake up tomorrow and say "okay, but this *specific* trans woman actually, totes for reals deserves it." There's always going to be an exception to the rule that keeps the cycle going.

One of the frustrating things about preferring to write novellas is many readers understandably like paperbacks, but with every distributor constantly cranking up printing prices and how much they take from an author per copy, I am in the awkward position of making about 90 cents per printed book.

Statistically, children are in much more danger from their parents than they are from any random stranger. Stranger danger isn't imaginary, but most violence against children by adults is from within the family. (Similarly, most kidnappings? Parents or other relatives.)

RE: genres We think, from a certain angle, if you squint at it under the right light, the Sunspot Chronicles is essentially urban fantasy for aliens on a generational starship that have never met a human being and maybe never will (they do, but in the sequel series). www.sunspot.world

re: "How do you know when you've written weird fiction?" When we set out to write TERATOVORE, we thought we were going to write a lesbian romance between monsters with heavy horror overtones. By the middle of the story, it started looking Noir. By the end, it was, "This is an Aromance, isn't it?"

Might start calling our fiction "odd fiction", because it's basically almost weird fiction, but not intentionally so. (we don't set out to write for genres, we just struggle to figure out what we've done after the fact)

I use the definition of the New Weird (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_weird) genre of literature mostly so I can find small spec lit publishers of it. There's probably other definitions out there.

How do you know whether or not you've written "weird fiction"? (asking for a small country with favorable diplomatic relations whose primary export is webfics)

Another thing I would really liked to do re my reading goals for 2026 is that I would like to read more 2026 releases by transfem authors who so far haven't really seen their work reflected in TFR's award. I know there are always a lot of works that I just haven't gotten around to reading last year.

We've got at least three in the works: THE LIFE OF INK and its sequel and THE MONSTER THAT ATE POOB (or GREEN vs POOB) These are more or less trans urban fantasy with monster transformation. They'll probably hit scribblehub first and then go up as epubs on itchio. Soon.
