AI isn't the first tech to atrophy people's intellectual agility, reducing my online time has definitely rescued not just attention span but my relationship to written language, reading and writing, after ending the 280 character asphyxiation of thought that is the reality of social media overuse.

I hate to praise Britain for much these days, but taking firearms away from rich nonces could in fact turn out to be a popular idea in more than just one English speaking country if it ever catches on.

Hey everyone, I hate asking especially rn so close to Christmas, but I've been off my meds for 4 days now with little hope of getting them before Christmas. Any assistance with getting something to help me sleep would be really, really appreciated π₯Ίπ

One of the hardest life lessons I ever learned was that "I can save her" does NOT mean "therefore she must want to save me, I credulously assume I'm safe to count on this βΊοΈ" Learning that (if you've lived a weird enough life that you need to) is granting yourself a brand new right to choose things.

This is my first Christmas since finally managing to stomp out the last inadvisable embers of love that I still held for my genetic family. Huge relief to confirm I truly don't miss them at all; I've got a proper family now. Homemade, hand-made, superior, actually worth spending the holidays with. π

I like being an uncle for the holidays because: Mom and dad are responsible, and will discipline you. Grandpa and Grandma are indulgent, and will coddle you. But the uncle... the uncle is unpredictable. The niece and nephew cannot know what the uncle will do, because the soul of the uncle is CHAOS

In our actual cyberpunk dystopia, there will remain in the dark nooks and crannies of the world machines which are cognitohazards people must avoid. Young people told "if you see one, don't fucking talk to it. Don't ask it any questions. It will drive you mad and get you to kill yourself."

When trans people express dismay that society and our families hate us on such a deep level, the usual gaslighting kneejerk is to tell us we must be exaggerating for dramatic effect. Wretchedly, this (awful, unnecessary) poll disproves that line of argument very neatly. I WISH we were exaggerating.

It was always only about destroying a trans woman and turning manufactured outrage into a career in media. This is the message: they can destroy any trans person they want on a whim, for nothing more than daring to exist and demand to be treated with dignity.

Stop internalizing all of the abuse and horrible things from your past, mocking and/or tormenting yourself is doing exactly what they want. Your abusers didn't win, remember that.

I was doing this for probably 20+ times a day for at least most of my adult life. Making the decision to stop and be kinder to myself, I haven't done it in almost 2 weeks! It really fucks with you when your own internality is one of learned self loathing and judgement.

Maddie and I went through the exact same medical gatekeepers at the exact same time. I'm heavily traumatised but she has at least as much trauma as me. Too many coincidences for both of us, which got me a whole year of EMDR and her nothing, seemed to favour my class coding over her medical criteria.

Less class discrimination would also be really nice. Person A with recieved pronunciation: Gets referral and treatment. Person B without RP: Gets referred, eventually, and subsequently ignored. It's systemic across all the services though tbf π€·ββοΈ

You can't have a serious new year's resolution, it has to be an excuse for something you already resolved to do. In 2026 I will wear prettier outfits and post more selfies, might as well call that a resolution since I'm already resolved. Cunt will be served shortly after tea.

I am in therapy. I have no idea what precisely it's going to do beyond the vague indication I decided to go in for, but it's got to do something. It's bad enough that I cannot function with it and continue living, and that doesn't even mean killing myself.

The fact that as a cis man you feel that you can respond to trans people telling you how our rights are under attack with "lol fuck u I know better" suggests you don't actually give all that much of a shit about the liberty of trans people.

Therapy was essential for me to even begin to be able to undo so much learned helplessness caused by so much trauma. People who need treatment NEED TREATMENT. This shit needs to be funded and it needs to be accessible, and tbh I think the economy needs it almost as badly as the poor fuckers in it.

It's interesting how many Godzilla movies now not only favour ecology as a major theme but also pose the big guy himself as an ally and necessity to humanity considering I thought he was originally invented in 1954 to represent the horror of the nuclear bomb and the trauma of Hiroshima and Nagasaki?
