Losing my religion was a very painful experience that I wouldn't wish on most people. I think experiencing the full horror of sudden godlessness for a while before you chill out makes you a sexier, funnier atheist. This, too, is sadly unfalsifiable.

religion is what gives me my strength to stay true to my morals but it's not the source of them. i don't need them to be - i'm a good person regardless. likewise, declining to be religious isn't going to make anyone a better person if all they want to do is take advantage of people.
