A wise person once told me "if it doesn't apply to you, don't take it personally". As a gen x who is definitely grumpy online but on the left, I definitely see so many people in my generation who've been brain poisoned by both the internet and the media. 50 year olds radicalised by radio 4.

It's extremely funny that in Star Trek most of the explosions people suffer come from inside the ship, you're being shot at by Klingons but don't worry about that rn buddy because your PC just crapped out and killed an ensign

there's this thing i call "cop math" basically, when you catch someone abusing power to cause harm and they're being real confident or real casual about it, stop and ask yourself, "how much human misery is flowing out of this one person into the world, if this evil thing is just a *habit* to them?"

I lost my SNAP benefits days ago. I was nervous about mentioning this, but I have to survive. Any help would be appreciated so I don't go into a diabetic coma and so that I may stock up on groceries further. Thank you for being kind, gracious, and patient with me. Nothing but love and gratitude.

Tesla is more a cult than a company these days, so this pie in the sky nonsense was inevitable. They're all reality-agnostic woo infested weirdos terminally rotting from their own insularity, so it's a big mistake to keep pretending only Musk is the lone bonkers element. He's just their John Frum.

The possibility that you might lose your grip on reality is higher than you think, and you should plan for it and have people you trust and love to know what to do if that happens.

I'd love to read some decent books (nonfiction) and articles about space futurism throughout the last century, what people tried to predict for the real world and what fantastic obsessions in that field either failed or succeeded, in whichever way. Have any of you got some decent recs for me please?
