I'm pretty over trans misery porn in general. Take the recent Guardian cartoon we were all talking about. Like yeah, the messenger (a Guardian cartoonist) matters but also the message kind of sucks too imo.

A story about a trans girl being sad and self-loathing, say, hits different for me depending on whether it seems like the author is expressing an experience she has had, showing genuine empathy, pitying us or monstering us (non-exhaustive examples).
