I just received this statement from ICE re: Barbara Mariana Gomes Marques May in which they can't even be bothered to get her age right (she's 38.) She never received the notice to appear in 2019, and was at the final step of her green card process with her US citizen husband when she was taken.

This whole incident is revealing a real crisis of trust in the FBI, it's hard to imagine how the FBI restores any credibility in the Trump administration, but that's what happens when you turn the entire government and related institutions into forums for loyalty tests and persecution.

The Trump admin has been itching for violent retaliation against ICE to justify even greater government control. This incident will be that excuse, not because ICE got hit, but because they will claim to have been targets despite only detainees being shot. Truth be damned.
