Books I read in 2026: A THREAD The Ghost that Ate Us: The Tragic True Story of the Burger City Poltergeist by Daniel Kraus Reads like an authentic, well researched/paced true crime novel about the haunting of a fast food restaurant. If you like the film Hell House LLC you'll LOVE this book. 10/10

I've never, ever read a @danielkraus.com book that I did not love, but I have been intimidated as hell to go into ANGEL DOWN because of the format and it being a brutal book about war. Y'all, go read the sentence he wrote. The structure *makes* the story. It's the definition of a war horror.

Angel Down. Against the thundering, bloody backdrop of WW1, five lost and traumatised men are sent careening through the trenches on a desperate mission to save a downed angel in hopes she can end the war. Beautifully written in one long, breathless sentence like a never-ending scream 🩸📚💙

I finished 'Angel Down' but Daniel Kraus over this week and it was so tender and gory and evocative. It might be the best wartime novel I've ever read. I read the last word of the last line of the last chapter yearning for what I knew the author would not give me and it haunts me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Got an early look at PARTIALLY DEVOURED by novelist Daniel Kraus, out 3/10, an exploration of a work of art so intimate that it feels revelatory and at times almost invasive. I was spellbound throughout. Find someone who looks at you the way Kraus looks at NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1968).

Recording the audiobook for PARTIALLY DEVOURED. Have whole new level of respect for pro readers - the *energy* it takes is astonishing.

I just finished @danielkraus.com Angel Down. I wondered how he could possibly follow up Whalefall but he delivered a beast of a novel. A beautifully-crafted, character-driven, fever dream. All the stars. Lots of thumbs up. Well done. Damn.

Like Whalefall, the concept COULD be fun and pulpy, but is much deeper on execution. Angel Down is an unhappy, bloody story about the trauma WW1 inflicted upon the world, the cycle of pain it started and the shame and guilt of those caught up in it, the angel seemingly a last chance for redemption.
