Since I was in town for the signing, we had a chance to check out Wayne Brady and Taye Diggs in Moulin Rouge. What a completely magical show! There was a snafu with the tickets resulting in us getting can can seats. I’m pretty sure my entire view was an HR violation…

Someone keeps making up lies and attacking me in a attempt to gain attention. And I'm like, "Oh no, what will I do?" Then I remember I'm not responsible for other people's fallacies and instead return to writing my stories, reading my books, and trying to live a good life.

Someone asked me not too long ago if I even still wrote horror. I told them I was just in an anthology by Jordan Peele and now in one for Stephen King! The End of the World as We Know It is out now!

Proof of Life: Worldcon Edition I was brought out by the Ray Bradbury Center so that I could help them co-host the Keith Kato Chili Party (though folks started calling it Maurice's cookout). And it was nice to chill out with my people after GenCon.

Whew, I’m not gonna lie: I’m still in recovery mode from running the GenCon Writers Symposium and I’m taking it easy this week. I haven’t processed the weekend yet and I’m shocked by how few pictures I took. But I wanted to share a few thoughts:

Thanks to @mauricebroaddus.bsky.social for running the Gen Con Writers' Symposium! From what I could tell, lots of attendees were having a great time learning from leaders in the SFF writing community. I know I always come away from these talks with new ideas and new ways of looking at the world.

Between the world being on fire, going home, the chaos of life/death, and trying to finish the next one, I haven’t plugged Zero Saints, but it’s an important book for me. It established barrio noir, launched my career in France, and taught me a lot. Oh, and it’s SO timely. Hope y’all read it!
