I pitched DOWNFALL to a room full of booksellers!

Tonight I am flying to Denver to present DOWNFALL to ~100 booksellers from across the west tomorrow. Wish me luck! I am so happy this is my life.

Behind the Glass went on sub to publishers in August 2020. It got an offer in October 2024. It's planned for release in Fall 2026, and will be my fourth published book, and first sci-fi.

Sky's End is $0.99 on Kindle right now! Good time to take the jump with the sequel out and finale coming in March.

I wonder if Brandon Sanderson gets the aggressive book reviewers in his DMs telling him they'll read and review his book and post it on Goodreads and Amazon for a reasonable price.

Nothing like seeing someone leave a review claiming your book is AI when I wrote the book in 2016. Guys, just because you don't like a book it doesn't mean it's AI. Writing stories is my passion. I'd rather chew razor blades than use generative AI to write my stories.

I really hate that author promotion bots are everywhere. One was even commenting on my Instagram broadcast channel this morning, replying to my comments with readers. So annoying!

One of the best things about being an author is getting fan art! I love it so much.

There's something immensely gratifying about sitting down to work on my books. I just love feeling of being completely absorbed in another world and living vicariously through the eyes of a person so different from me.

The secret to getting published is having the same tenacity as the bot scammers who spam authors with their "marketing and review" services. You must be so relentless that you eventually break down some doors.

Congrats to Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins for winning the Dragon Award! So cool. But guess what?! The Doctor from Star Trek: Voyager was the emcee and he read my name! It was pretty awesome. I was so honored to be a nominee for the Dragon. Unforgettable experience.

My server at lunch knew who I was and he was laughing because his friend is a huge fan of my books and would be freaking out I was there. That was a nice feeling. 😀

I have to say, it's pretty awesome to see how big the lines are for super popular authors at comic con conventions. Matt Dinniman had so many fans yesterday and many were wearing swag and carrying bundles of books to be signed. It was really cool to see! 😀

I am grateful that today, I got to witness a man dressed as Mario barehand eating a full rotisserie chicken at Dragon Con. My heart is full.

It's an especially intense anxiety once you know strangers are reading ARCs of your latest book. It's all out of your hands now!

I'm going to Dragon Con in Atlanta to attend the Dragon Awards ceremony. When I set out to get published, I just hoped other people would enjoy my writing. I never dreamed my books would get nominated for awards! Very proud of AMONG SERPENTS!

Got a nice note from the copy editor at the end of DOWNFALL. "Loved it! I think this is a satisfying end to the series." I'm all done with copy edits!

Never, in my wildest dreams, did I ever think I'd be going up against the author of the Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins, for an award! It's pretty awesome.

If you're a debut author, call bookstores ahead of time before just showing up to sign their stock of your books. Calling eliminates 95% of the awkward in-store moments. If they're not interested, you know over the phone, and can skip the trip. 😀
