Having a child involves living in the unknown, and the job of a parent is to love your child through all of it. This kind of study treats gender identity like a disease -- will your child "recover" or no? It seems the real issue facing a parent is, how I do love them the best and allow them to grow?

Perhaps more to the point: Unlike trans characters, which are fictional and do not exist, trans authors are very much real people who need to pay their bills and eat three times a day. I'd much rather talk about author representation, especially since it demonstrably leads to character rep.

"Is this good trans rep?" isn't a very productive question when every book has trans characters by default. It's just trans - the real question you want to ask is "Is this a good book? Does it succeed as literature? What are its politics? What were the material conditions of its creation?"
