There was a video I saw a while back of two ICE agents walking around an apartment complex. One, middle aged, tatted, and roided out, was intentionally being a dick to the person recording them. The other, a guy in his early twenties, looked uncomfortable and was trying to deescalate.

Immigration enforcement is necessarily a violent project, but ICE’s fundamental, foundational problem is that it approaches immigration as a violation of criminal law instead of a civil matter. What’s happened under Trump is that it’s progressed from criminal law enforcement to military occupation.
