I cannot express enough how this is what has been happening for some time in Broadview. Federal agents assault, shoot chemical munitions at, and arrest protesters completely unprovoked. And state police are now helping border patrol to combat and arrest protesters. Great work everyone.

Every day is just countless alerts of ICE all over the city, with hotspots on the southwest side communities of Brighton Park and Back of the Yards. I do wonder long-term how our Latine immigrant communities can live like this. It's breaking our fabric. We need leaders at all levels to do more.

At the Broadview ICE facility. A handful of ISP and Cook County Sheriff's Officers are milling about. They tell us they're here to "check things out" and "make sure it's safe." Broadview police chief also just arrived. They're consulting and looking at the fence.

Per the individual who provided us with the photos: "the place smelled like sewage it was totally ransacked" Besides the water on the floor, it also appears the ceiling has water damage. Debris appears to remain in the corridors as well.

We've recieved more photos from the inside of the South Shore apartment building that federal immigration agents raided over Monday night. Doors bashed in, window panes missing, furniture smashed, water on the floor. It's unclear what damage was pre-existing and what was inflicted in the raid.

Surreal moment for America. Needless to say, if the normal police ever pulled something like this — pulling every single person out of an apartment building and handcuffing them to run warrant checks — they would be sued into oblivion. Yet ICE is going to get away with it entirely.

If anything good can come from my arrest, I hope it's that more people demand the shutdown of the Broadview ICE facility, where humans are treated like poorly kept animals. Stop the deportations. Demand the truth about Silverio's death at ICE's hands.

I don't believe they were guilty of anything more than me—being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but now their lives will be altered forever.

When they brought me out for "processing" (fingerprints, mug shot) I was seated just outside their room. Several men came and stood at the one window in their room that hadn't been papered over. Watching. The looks on their faces were heartbreaking.

I don't think the lights ever go out, they just dimmed a bit sometime after midnight. Reportedly they have no showers. I don't know if/when/what they are fed.
