I had a keycard for City Hall and the mayor's office when I worked for McGinn. Only actual mayoral staffers had that. If a contractor needed access, they could call ahead and a staffer would simply meet them at the locked office door on the 7th floor, it's not hard. So yeah, a low "wall" indeed.

Just want to highlight the pattern that @ericacbarnett.bsky.social ‘s coverage of the mayoral debates has shown: the mayor makes shit up to attack Wilson. Wilson could sling the ample mud his tenure offers, all of it true, but has consistently stuck to strictly critiquing his policy record.

Wilson doesn't take the bait, instead citing her long list of endorsements and the fact that 51% of the primary voters chose her over Harrell.

Harrell's response, belittling the work of non-government advocates in crafting, pushing for, and passing the progressive payroll tax, speaks to his contempt for community advocates over government insiders.

Wilson invites Harrell (who she refers to by his name, which he doesn't do for Wilson) to go to board and commission meetings and ask the volunteers serving on them if they feel listened to and valued by the city.

Wilson is talking about the need to provide incentives to build family-sized units and people at the lowest income levels, especially for people who've "borne the blunt of displacement and our affordability crisis," and support social housing and affordable homeownership programs.

This is such a weird ongoing line of attack from Harrell? Anyone who spends two minutes with Wilson will quickly see she’s a huge policy nerd (complimentary), who cares about delivering results for people not just sound bites.

There is a lot of information about how he treats women and none of it is good and I really want him out of & nowhere near any public office.

Wilson responds to the question about advisory boards, noting that one reason qualified people don't serve on them is that the city doesn't listen to them or value their time and expertise. (Example 1: The Planning Commission, whose advice to densify Seattle in the new comp plan Harrell ignored.)

Yeah he wants you to bring him ideas so he can check whether you greased the right palms for it to move forward or not

It’s so goddamn hard to start a small business in Seattle, with city leadership that wants to micromanage every little thing you can/can’t do like it’s their HOA. It should not be prohibitively difficult to get a permit to set up in an otherwise empty space in the city if your food is safe to eat.
