My neighborhood gets a lot of attention for gun violence but the reality is that I'm more at risk of death or serious injury from being hit by a car than a bullet. The city passed loitering laws to curb gun violence in this area yet more people died or were injured from being hit by cars here.

History lesson: When they built Aurora Ave in the 1930s, they built 3 ped bridges between the zoo & park. In the 70s, "Save Woodland Park" NIMBY activists killed a fully-funded plan to lid Aurora and expand the zoo. The zoo closed the western gate in the 80s when they began charging admission.

Sounds like we live in the same neighborhood. I can't understand why the city has designed neighborhood centers but does not designate routes or transit to move between those centers.

The entire neighborhood village approach is designed to benefit the people who don't live in those neighborhood villages. Connecting the the dense working class neighborhoods to the rich sprawley neighborhoods has never been the goal.

The added irony here is that state legislators in blue states virtually always have far more policy resources at their disposal than those in red states. But in my experience, they don't produce better policy; they just bureaucratize the process and produce small-c conservative legislation.
