For some reason so many people are crashing out about Jared Golden retiring. It's very weird. Deep breaths everyone. It's most likely going to be a strong national environment for Dems. Lots of replacement level candidates are going to have at least a strong shot in seats like this.

This is just as important of a victory as any that we saw last night. Golden has been systematically undermining Democrats for years, in ways that boost MAGA. His departure is excellent news for Dems’ ability to resist MAGA and to implement their agenda when they retake power.

Her leadership fostered toxicity, led to Seattle losing many very good legislative staff + a great legislator, & coincided with a stagnation of Council generated legislation. Here's a look at the raw numbers in the Seattle mayoral contest, with 2021 for scale. Harrell has lost a lot of ground from his 2021 win. Wilson gained 17,221 votes more than Harrell between the primary and general. That would be more than enough to eliminate the 8,319 vote gap here.

People respond to candidates who authentically care about them, who genuinely care about making their lives better, and have thought seriously about their problems and what it would take to solve them. There’s a model here for anyone willing to emulate it.

I very definitely believe this. Middle America wants Dems they trust, Dems they can believe in, Dems who are believable when they say they care about solving middle America’s problems.
