Staff doesn't want this. Riders don't want this. Voters don't want this. We can't let the board deflect their responsibility (or the legislature, for that matter).

The Sound Transit board room is packed this afternoon with folks who want to keep ST3 on track.

I’ve been a cyclist for decades but my current judgement of cycling infrastructure is “would I feel safe riding here with a young child under my care” Aka is this infrastructure appropriate for *everyone*

The Sound Transit board is seriously considering giving up on the ST3 passenger rail expansion throughout our region, abandoning rail lines, stations, and communities rather than work together to build the system smartly. We have to stop this mad rush. Tell the board to save ST3!

I need a recommendation on a 20" bike for a kiddo that is actually fun to ride (not a Walmart bike)

My experience with town hall style meetings is that they end up being a place for uninformed people to express their uninformed opinions and introduce a conformity bias. Elected officials in my experience tend to weigh the feedback more heavily than the aggregate feedback received.

Reflecting on last night's meeting my main takeaway is that we as activists need to provide our public employees with some grace particularly at in-person meetings. I did not see much from this particular crowd last night (minus the moderator).

a functioning relationship would look more like: City commits to bold plan w/ locked in goals like X miles of roads converted -> work with specific pop (cyclists, peds, etc) to refine general evidence-backed design -> wider community helps to prioritize areas but can't cut back design or goals

The Q&A is starting out with "more of a comment than a question" from a Highland Park resident who says HPW needs four lanes because the neighborhood is "growing growing growing." "You need to give precedence to the cars over the bikes, I'm sorry!" she says.

We haven't actually reached the Q&A portion of this meeting but we've already had: -"no one bikes in Seattle except fit white men." -"the bike lobby is taking over Seattle."

Looks like the big difference between this and the original Option 2 is that the median separation at the intersection would not be installed in order to accommodate the additional lane.

SDOT has added a *third* option into the mix for Highland Park Way at W Marginal, which seems to seek to make everyone happy. The email touts "Increased Intersection Capacity", along with protection for the bike lane that extends to the intersection.
