Here is an impatient driver nearly murdering a group of us during the Seattle critical mass ride for Alex Pretti last month.

Yesterday a driver pulled out a megaphone to scream at me from his car while I was waiting for cross traffic to clear so I could safely cross the intersection. This was on a neighborhood street next to a park that experiences heavy cut thru traffic from Aurora to I5.

This is the third road violence in this neighborhood in 48 hours, and not even 24 hours since someone died trapped under a car blocks away

This temporary healthy street sign on N 100th and Stone Way has once again been smashed by a car. I've lost count how many times this sign has been replaced but this is the 3rd time in the last 3 months.

Last night, two community members were hit by drivers in two separate instances while walking in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. We have since learned that one of them has passed away. This is devastating, and my heart is with these community members, their friends, and their families.

Hopefully we won't be adding another example to this list, but I've heard there will be some opponents speaking out against the "loss" of [illegal] street parking, so do comment if you can. Not sure how street parking is historic the neighborhood that was built before cars, but there you have it...

My neighborhood gets a lot of attention for gun violence but the reality is that I'm more at risk of death or serious injury from being hit by a car than a bullet. The city passed loitering laws to curb gun violence in this area yet more people died or were injured from being hit by cars here.

Two things for @mayorofseattle.bsky.social and @alexis4seattle.bsky.social: 1. We need to know how and why this happened tomorrow, and have a proposed solution to prevent it. 2. We need to immediately spin up a Vision Zero Response Team with more funding than the 2026 graffiti abatement budget.

Seattle needs immediate rapid response to vision zero. When someone is killed or seriously injured in a traffic collision, a rapid semi-permanent remediation must be installed/deployed at the site to make sure it never happens again. Paint and signal re-timing is not sufficient.

Northgate station certainly has its accessibility challenges and is surrounded by freeway and parking lots, but it makes Roosevelt, U District, and Capitol Hill within walking distance for me. With trains running every 5 min now, it takes longer to get to Greenwood which is 1.5 miles away from me.

History lesson: When they built Aurora Ave in the 1930s, they built 3 ped bridges between the zoo & park. In the 70s, "Save Woodland Park" NIMBY activists killed a fully-funded plan to lid Aurora and expand the zoo. The zoo closed the western gate in the 80s when they began charging admission.

Once again we need policy and regulation for autonomous vehicles. A vehicle operator must be licensed in the state in which they are operating a vehicle.

Critical Mass Seattle organized a unity ride for Alex Pretti where Seattle’s cycling community truly came together. Over a thousand people turned out with a clear message: Fuck ICE.

If our "environmental protection" frameworks can stop an affordable housing project but can't stop a detention center or a highway expansion we really need to start talk about ripping things up root and branch.
