Are there any legislators currently willing to take up SEPA reform? Highway expansion, delays to housing growth, inability to open a grocery store, and slow mass transit expansion are all rooted in SEPA and no one in the WALEG seems to be taking up this fight for larger reform.

Reminder: today at 5pm is the in-person portion of the public hearing on the Seattle Transit Measure (STM) renewal. STM funds a significant portion of Seattle's bus service, and the proposed renewal provides a big increase in our service hours. So be sure to come by City Hall to give public comment!

Vision zero does not guide transportation projects in Seattle and that is a problem. It takes advocacy and the department director to step in to get basic safety improvements added in at the last minute. We are failing to meet vision zero because transportation projects are not centered on safety.

A few things that I think are important to note as we talk about SEPA. The City started scoping of environmental review for the comp plan in 2022. A Draft EIS which is over 1,000 pages was issued in 2024. A Final EIS was released in early 2025. It is over 1,300 pages.

Will Dreher, the guy who bought his way into the election with donations from AI companies over progressive Ron Davis or even incumbent Gerry Pollet is a wild choice.

Today is the annual Greenwood car show where 30 city blocks on an arterial route are pedestrianized and thousands of people turn out to look at cars and spend money at local businesses.

Just want to make this clear, legislating that bike lanes be installed on any road where a person on a bike has been killed is not meddling in design, it's the basic policy that the Seattle Council Transportation Chair is supposed to be doing, and if that's too hard for Rob, he should step down.

This is not leadership. Rob Saka should never have been appointed chair of the transportation committee by Joy Hollingsworth. These people are responsible for every preventable traffic death in Seattle and for not making progress on vision zero.

Vision Zero needs to be the center of every SDOT project and be able to halt projects that don't adequately make our roads safer. Please demand this from our city leadership via this action network campaign.

"Around half of the average trip volume on Rainier Avenue and MLK south of Mount Baker are Lime Access trips. That’s compared to 11% of trips citywide." Arterial routes like Rainier Ave are also where Seattle likes to focus building affordable housing.
