Already said this but on rewatch, I'm struck again by how Hathaway immediately engages you in its story even though it starts in media res (extremely so--characters are literally mid-conversation in the opening). It's enjoyable even if you know nothing about UC.

Film also functions as an excellent argument for why yeah sometimes it's better to animate science fiction than to film it live action. Hathaway would have looked solidly like shit barring the most prohibitively expensive visual effects, and even then it'll probably still look stupid.
