Kew Gardens recording 35.1ÂșC today breaks its previous May record in 1922 before this spell by NEARLY 5ÂșC and breaks its June maximum temperature record set in 1976 by 0.5ÂșC - this also beats the previous May UK maximum record by OVER 2ÂșC (32.8ÂșC, 1922/44). An incredible anomaly

This is extremely clear when you dig beneath the surface of these surveys where majorities say they "care about climate change." Ask a few follow-ups & you disvoer that almost no one understands what it is, how it works, or what would really solve it. This is true even of the politically engaged!

April 2026 belongs in the clean energy history books. Itâs the first time wind and solar power around the world combined to beat gas over a whole month.

Itâs a milestone moment that shows just how much clean energy has matured in a short amount of time â and a lot more growth is on the way.

New this week: I wrote about how we have enough data for 2026 to say with pretty good confidence that 2026 will have the lowest murder rate ever recorded in the US, eclipsing the previous record low set way back in 2025.

2026 Will Likely Have The Lowest US Murder Rate Ever Recorded
Yes, itâs late May and there are still more than seven full months remaining in 2026, but there has been enough data collected on this year to say that this year will likely set a new record for lowes...

I read a book 20 years ago and have a rough memory of it, but I cannot find it, so I must have either hallucinated it, or my memory is so shot. I used to go to the literature section of the Davis Library at UNC and just grab books and this was one of them.

This flag brouhaha is really just a âMinnesotaâ StarTribune clickbait project. There is no rural âtrendâ against the official, legal Minnesota state flag. The cities we havenât heard from are just flying the accurate, legal, official state flag. This is not really news just inflamation for clicks.

The president of Cornell hit two students with his car, lied about what happened, and got away with it. The story illustrates an under-reported crisis in higher education: administrators and the trustees they answer to are increasingly hostile to the idea of college itself. I wrote about it here:

Still not over the MN legislature increasing the car subsidy to overcome a period of time that showcases so much of the downside of autonormativity. This isn't a solution. It's digging the hole deeper. For context, $254m could 2x the bikeway lane miles for the entire state or fund brand new abrt.

1/Very early on in the process, I said that if we were to survive this process, it was not going to be the Supreme Court that would be useful, it was going to be independent Article III district court judges because what they do is find the facts, and they know how to do that very well.
