Seeing that the unpublished Rick Veitch Swamp Thing's out starting next week, I'm thinking I should catch up with the rest of his 'run', having only read the first collection of his stuff. Looks like about 8 of the issues haven't been collected, though. Hurm.

Late 90s X-Force. Specifically the John Francis Moore/Adam Pollina run. The second these kids hit the road, every issue is gold.

Dos anyone have a physical copy of Hellblazer 8 on-hand? I suspect this spread from the TPB was cut and pasted to expand it from one page into two. I wanna see the original. Thanks!

Just to add to this, The Screamer is a sci-fi and cyberpunk dungeon crawler, one of the earliest, with oodles of schlocky urban horror anime OVA energy and style. Had a dig into it when I originally posted the headshots above, and still appreciate its banging cover.

Before I get to this lot, I still need to finish (amongst other things) Albion! Albion! by Dick Morland (aka Reginald Hill). A dystopian tale of football obsessed fascist England - pretty good, but would’ve benefited from being at least 20% trashier.

went to the botanic gardens with a pal and his kids, and his youngest kept insisting we go to 'the creature house'. Thought the place had nothing meeting that description and he was thinking of somewhere else, but turns out he meant "tub of soil at the entrance where he'd seen 1 woodlouse"

The Sutter Cane book covers that were done by Shannon Shea while working for KNB EFX on In The Mouth of Madness (1994) I contacted Shea the other week and he said the other book covers were done 'by someone on the production in Canada'. All the artworks are currently owned by John Carpenter.

Yesterday, the Google AI summary that appears at the top of search results manufactured a 1990s Australian newsstand comics wholesaler out of thin air. Cue lots of backwards and forwards, "Where are you getting this info from", "link me to any web page that mentions this business", etc

Before I became an American, I was Lebanese. Parts of my family live in Lebanon. Anyway, you don't need those bona fides to feel this way, but what is happening in Lebanon right now is a complete outrage. The people there, who mostly are just trying to carve out a living, don't deserve this.

In 2013, I made an essay for XOJane about being sexually harassed on a panel of my colleagues. I anonymized the harrasser, but he outed himself a couple days later, issuing a public non-apology ("Sorry you didn't get my sense of humor"), which led to his fans barraging me with hate + death threats.

The only superhero around this era whose musical tastes are fully canonical, to my knowledge, is Spider-Man who, in 1981's Marvel Team-Up Annual #4, was hypnotized into singing "Oliver's Army" from a lamppost. Bad news, Spidey, you just committed to shouting the n-word over midtown Manhattan!

My youngest is watching Luck, a Skydance movie that features someone doing a Scottish accent that is good enough to get across that the speaker is familiar with Scottish accents, but wrong enough to get across that they're just crap at it, so I went to check the cast and of course it's Simon Pegg

Reminder that while they have restricted who is eligible for a covid booster, they only check by asking you if you're eligible, they don't check your medical records. I *am* eligible, but I wish more people would break the rules here. The restrictions on boosters are frankly monstrous.
