The more I think about the Bendis return to Marvel thing, it just reminds me when DC made a HUGE deal about getting Claremont and Byrne to do a JLA arc in the early aughts. Only for it to turn out embarrassingly dated and totally out of step with what contemporary readers would have connected to.

The only genuinely adult take on Batman was the 1966 tv show. Everything since on tv and the movies has been for 14-year-olds of all ages.

The Bond thing feels of a piece with the Surf Dracula tweet in terms of highlighting how we weirdly seem to have forgotten how to tell certain kinds of stories. Now EVERY type of character can only exist in one type of story: something you can (must, really) binge endlessly.

All of the great costumes I’ve been pulling lately are pretty old (sometimes literally 100 years old), so I wanted to highlight some recent designs that I’ve really loved.

Thinking more about Ollie's suit. Imo the Toth adaptation of the Adams design for SuperFriends is perfection, but I also love the Grell modification with the hood. JLU is also a very nice take on it, though Ollie is a tad bulky in that style, imo.

One more: the Justice League Unlimited design is just about perfect, though I wish he had the wonkier lightning bolt.

I wrapped up this series last night and found it totally delightful. It honestly may be my favorite live-action Marvel show. Shame it didn't get a third season - it really seemed to be settling nicely into an enjoyable pulpy camp you don't get a lot of these days. There was even a musical number!
