Today's strip has one of my favorite Bok panels in a while. Bok's a fun character to draw — part Hellboy, part Conan, less Goliath than you might think and a decent helping of Brock Samson. Season and serve.

Story from Mike Campbell’s autobiography about Stan Lynch and Bob Dylan blowing off band practice to go see Sammy Davis Jr and Sinatra. Tom Petty comes off as a jerk in this book, especially to Stan, so it’s funny to see him get told off by Bob Dylan

thank you for all the support; the statement from our union is now live here with some more reporting. now that this is public I can confirm that the majority of today’s layoffs were women of color. there are no longer any Black women working at Teen Vogue.

I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day. certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

On Teen Vogue: It's an amazing publication full of talented journalists. It offers so much value. It's clear the monied interests in media aren't interested in preserving that value, especially if it threatens the status quo that undergirds their wealth. Capitalism and journalism are enemies.

Lou Donaldson would have been 99 years old today. The great saxophonist was born on November 1, 1926 in Badin, North Carolina. Sweet Poppa Lou recorded more than 30 albums for Blue Note from 1952-1974 spanning bebop to funky soul jazz. Stream our spotlight playlist:

The incomparable trumpeter Clifford Brown was born on this day Oct. 30, 1930. Brownie recorded 2 Blue Note sessions in 1953—a quintet date with Lou Donaldson & a sextet date under his own name—that were compiled on the 12" LP "Memorial Album" after his death in 1956:
