He was. For an ordinary-sized cat, Scout felt like a much bigger presence. Weeks ago I showed a pic of him to a friend who said, “That is a MAN. Seriously that is a whole man.” He surely felt like a whole housemate. He kept his own hours, had his own agenda. Better at work/life balance than most.

Scout was a friendly fellow, never one to hide when strangers came calling. As long as you never tried to touch his belly, he would accept politely offered scritches from anyone even on very short acquaintance.

I never thought a film version of THE LONG WALK would be as dark on the screen as it is in my head. As it has been ever since I read it for the first time in college over thirty years ago. It made me feel a pained love for every person I saw today, no matter who. We’re all Walking.

The only two things I’m gonna miss— because I use them when I teach a particular project— only one is released on DVD. So I did buy that one, and a usb-dvd drive. But I guess the other one’s just lost. I do hope it gets to dvd eventually. Loooots of favorite cartoons never made it to DVD.
